April 1, 2024: Loan closings reach notable milestone

ESSA Bank & Trust is pleased to announce that it has closed its 30th home mortgage loan utilizing its loan subsidy fund to help homeowners in majority Black and Hispanic census tracts within its covered lending area. The Bank launched the fund and its newly offered community first loan mortgage product in July 2023.

The closings, with a total loan volume of $5,762,701 and subsidy funds provided to borrower of $540,000, represent home sales in, Lehigh, Northampton, Delaware and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania.

“The success of these programs has exceeded our expectations,” said Pete Gray, Chief Operating Officer at ESSA. “The passion and hard work of Nancy Clauson and Elliott Mapps, Community Development Mortgage Professionals, Nicole Gailliard, Community Development Officer, and our entire residential mortgage team has helped to spread the word.”

An ongoing series of open house events for realtors, brokers, and community leaders has also assisted in promoting the program, which includes up to $18,000 loan subsidy qualifying home buyers. This fund provides access to down payment and closing cost assistance for primary-residence borrowers within qualifying majority-minority neighborhoods.
