Fraud Protection Services Scam

Fraud Protection Services Scam

If you receive a call from “Fraud Protection Services” and they ask you for your ENTIRE debit card number or Social Security Number – HANG UP!

The scammers who are committing this fraud will:

  • Indicate that your card is “locked” and they need verification of the card in order to re-activate
  • Ask for full card numbers, expiration dates, CVV, and PIN numbers
  • Spoof the caller ID to make it look local to the cardholder

If ESSA Bank & Trust’s legitimate fraud detection center ever calls you, they will state the last four digits of your card number to you and will ask for your zip code to verify your identity.

Also, NEVER provide your debit card PIN number to anyone under any circumstance.
